Lucena City, Quezon – Quezon Travel & Tours continues its social corporate responsibility and ways and means of giving back to the community through the launching of its multi-purpose cooperative, the Quezon Travel & Tourism Multipurpose Cooperative (QTTMPC).

The cooperative aims to help poor families within the province of Quezon to uplift their status of living through various programs such as livelihood trainings and seminars.

April 16, 2013, the cooperative was formally launched and introduced to the public. Nine hundred and seventy three (973) cooperative members attended the orientation seminar held at the gymnasium of Lucena City National High School in Brgy. Ibabang Dupay, Lucena City. Galilee Center for Human and Economic Development Inc., a charitable institution based on Honolulu, Hawaii, served as one of the activity’s sponsors in cooperation with Quezon Travel & Tours, Q-Nex IT Solutions, and Sun Cellular.

Ms. Fatima Abuy, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of QTTMPC, introduced the cooperative to its members and gave insights on what the cooperative is all about.

Engr. Racy Jesmundo of TESDA, also shared some information regarding the variety of trainings, courses and programs the members could take to help them acquire the necessary skills to help them become skilled workers.

Mr. Leo Lagos of Lucena Manpower gave insights regarding the assistance and job openings that the institution could offer to QTTMPC’s members and help them land a job.

Mr. Mario Mapaye, President of Sangguniang Pangturismo ng Quezon Inc. (SPQI), shared some ideas of the activities and trainings that the cooperative may undertake. He gave insights on how the boosting of the province’s tourism may benefit the cooperative, as the name of the cooperative implies.

Mr. Johnny Martinez also gave insights and support to the launching and operations of the newly established Multi-purpose Cooperative. He suggested the manufacturing of green charcoal, whereas the said product will be made, distributed and sold by the cooperative and its members, thus providing additional source of income and livelihood for its members.

Mr. Rey Evangelista, Regional Officer of the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) was the featured guest speaker of the event. He discussed on what a cooperative is about, in particular the requirements, duties of the members and suggested ways on how to maintain a cooperative in the long run.

After the talk of Mr. Evangelista, an open forum was conducted to give the members a chance to ask questions and other clarifications regarding the cooperative.

Quezon Travel & Tourism Multi-Purpose Cooperative would like to thank all the Guest Speakers, Sponsors, Participants and Volunteers who have dedicated their time and skills in making this event possible and successful.

Our mission is to lead in shaping and directing Tourism Industry in Quezon thru policy agenda, research program and advocacy works.  Enhance Quezon’s image as a wholesome worry free destination.      

Our objective is to relate to NES/DENR/DOT’s implementation of programs and projects in response to economic, social, environmental, educational and resource management.

The bottom-up process aims to create mechanisms for nurturing ecotourism development through community initiatives, local entre-preneurships and private sector participation in which Quezon Travel & Tourism Multi-Purpose Cooperative (QTTMPC) belongs.
The top-down process seeks to focus the development, management and marketing of key ecotourism sites and set standards for enhancing the quality and monitor ecotourism operations.
QTTMPC like NES responds to real needs and circumstances by and large.  It as well rests on the following principles of ecotourism:
  • sustainable management of natural and cultural resources;
  • environmental education and conservation awareness;
  • empowerment of local communities;
  • development of products that will satisfy visitor needs; and
  • position Quezon as globally competitive ecotourism destination.
QTTMPC has initially identified six (6) key ecotourism best hikes of Quezon destinations namely: Quezon Protected Landscape, Mt. Banahaw, Bangkong Kahoy, Kinabuhayan,  Mamala, Apasan (Trail) Wilderness and Maapon Trail.
